Everett Black

Background

Everett BlackI am a recent graduate of the Harvard Graduate School of Design, where I studied urban planning. During my time in graduate school, I interned at Studio A Architecture in Charleston, South Carolina, and Mend Collaborative in Austin, Texas. Since graduating in 2025, I have been working as an urban designer and planner at WRT in Philadelphia.  Before starting my career in urban planning, I worked in ceramic production and art restoration.

Why did you want to be part of this fellowship pilot?

This fellowship is an exciting opportunity for me to build the foundations of a career in rural development, planning, and design in my home state. I am interested in learning practical development skills to compliment the more abstract focus of my planning education.

What are your goals for the next year?

My goals for this year are to learn as much as I can; help build dignified homes; and get to know the people, lakes, and trails of the Driftless Region.

What will you be working on during the fellowship?

During this fellowship, I will be working on expanding the Southwest Wisconsin Infill Solutions to Housing (SWISH) program and organizing a regional housing summit.
