NFWF Sustain Our Great Lakes Program

Sustain Our Great Lakes is a public–private partnership designed to sustain, restore and protect fish, wildlife and habitat in the basin by leveraging funding, building conservation capacity, and focusing partners and resources toward key ecological issues. The program achieves this mission, in part, by awarding grants for on-the-ground habitat restoration and enhancement.

Funding priorities for this program include:
Restore and enhance stream and riparian habitat
Restore and enhance coastal wetland habitat
Expand green stormwater infrastructure in Great Lakes communities
Maintain and enhance benefits of habitat restoration through invasive species control
Restore and preserve natural areas and biodiversity in Wisconsin’s Lake Michigan watershed
Accelerate implementation of conservation practices and regenerative agriculture on working lands

Eligibility

Eligible applicants include non-profit 501(c) organizations, state government agencies, local governments, municipal governments, Tribal governments and organizations, and educational institutions. Ineligible applicants include federal government agencies, unincorporated individuals, and for-profit businesses.

Funds must not be used to:
Support political advocacy, fundraising, lobbying, litigation, terrorist activities or Foreign Corrupt Practices Act violations.
Support ongoing efforts to comply with legal requirements, including permit conditions, mitigation and settlement agreements.
Purchase equipment, with exceptions.
Procure or obtain equipment, services, or systems that uses telecommunications equipment or services produced by Huawei Technologies Company or ZTE Corporation as a substantial or essential component, or as critical technology of any system.
