Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Electronic Benefit Transfer Modernization Technical Assistance Center (SEMTAC)

SEMTAC provides technical assistance to educate retailers on the process and technical requirements for online acceptance of SNAP benefits and to support and expedite SNAP online purchasing. It also provides additional funding for SNAP issuance-related modernization efforts.

In addition to online purchasing, a portion of the funding for this grant opportunity will be used to support technical assistance for SNAP retailers who will implement mobile payments under an FNS pilot in five States (currently to be determined), and to support education and training on any new issuance modernization initiatives.

Eligibility

Eligible applicants are limited to nonprofit entities only. A nonprofit entity is any organization or institution with IRS 501(c) (3) status or accredited institutions of higher education, where no part of the net earnings benefit any private shareholder or individual. All applicant organizations must be domestic entities and shall be owned, operated, and located within the 50 United States, the District of Columbia, Guam, or the United States Virgin Islands.
